COUNTING THE OMER: Do You Count?

Beginning the second night of Passover, we count 49 days to
the holiday of Shavuot, when we received the Torah at Mount Sinai.

Kabbalah describes 49 facets that make up the human character.
Every day that we count, another facet of our nature is uplifted.

Each year, we retrace this inner journey by Counting the Omer.
The 50th day, the holiday of Shavuot, is when we receive
the Torah once again.

While counting the Omer, we try to perfect our character.
To assist in achieving this goal, it is customary to study Pirkei Avot
(the "chapters of Avot", devoted to piety, humility, kindness and ethics)
on the Shabbats between the holidays of Passover and Shavuot,
the seven weeks of the Omer counting.
